The RPL process
How RPL works at S2C
Recognition of Prior Learning assesses the skills and experience you already have against the units of a nationally recognised qualification. Where there are gaps, you only complete the training you need.
1
Free skills check
Tell us about your roles, experience and training. It takes a few minutes.
2
Talk to a course advisor
We confirm the qualification that fits, entry requirements, fees and payment options.
3
Register and gather evidence
Upload your evidence in the Learner Portal, with guidance on what each unit needs.
4
Assessment
An assessor reviews your evidence and may hold a competency conversation or contact your referees.
5
Your outcome
Your qualification or statement of attainment is issued once you're assessed as competent. Any gaps are closed with training.
RPL outcomes depend on an individual assessment of your evidence.
Evidence
What counts as evidence
You don't need all of these. Your assessor helps you work out what best shows your skills for each unit.
Position descriptions
Current and past role descriptions that show your responsibilities.
Performance reports
Appraisals, reviews and feedback from supervisors.
Workplace documents
Plans, reports, procedures and other work you've produced.
Training records
Certificates, course results and statements of attainment.
References and third-party reports
Supervisors or colleagues who can confirm how you work.
Service records
For Defence and emergency services: service history, course reports and role records.
Recognition of Prior Learning
